Yesterday in Harare, Mohamed Arkab, the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, was hosted by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, according to a ministry statement.
This meeting was part of Mr. Arkab’s working visit to Zimbabwe, along with his accompanying delegation, assigned by the Algerian President, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. During their conversation, President Mnangagwa extended his “brotherly greetings” to President Tebboune, the statement noted.
Mr. Arkab reciprocated with his own greetings from the Algerian President to President Mnangagwa, reaffirming Algeria’s intention to collaborate closely to invigorate Algerian-Zimbabwean relations. This collaboration is particularly focused on the sectors of energy and mining, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the energy sector. The agreement aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in oil, gas, electricity, renewable energy, and education.
The meeting served as an opportunity to express the shared political will of both nations’ leaders to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level, one that accurately reflects the robust, historical cooperative ties between both countries, the statement concluded.
