Tebboune Commits to Increasing Salaries by “47% to 50% by 2024”

In his periodic interview with national media representatives, broadcasted on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, on national television and radio channels, President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune once again addressed a topic of concern for Algerians: citizens’ purchasing power and salary increases.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his satisfaction with the measures taken to protect the purchasing power of Algerians, while acknowledging that they still remain “insufficient.” He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that salary increases reach a rate of “47% to 50% by 2024.”

He recalled the measures taken since 2021 for the benefit of workers and low-income individuals, stating that Algeria had taken a qualitative step forward in terms of development and the preservation of the state’s social character. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed his commitment to defending the middle class and addressing their concerns, emphasizing his consistent advocacy for this class. He also called on Algerians to defend national unity and not be swayed by plans that aim to harm them and undermine their country.

Furthermore, President Tebboune expressed his satisfaction with the measures taken to protect the purchasing power of Algerians, even though they are still deemed “insufficient.” He indicated that Algeria had achieved a qualitative advancement in terms of development and the preservation of the state’s social character.

Additionally, he reassured that housing projects will continue, emphasizing that housing will remain a priority for the state and will be allocated to those who truly deserve it. Addressing ongoing projects in the field of water management, he highlighted the capacity of seawater desalination plants to provide a regular supply of potable water for at least 15 years without disruption. He emphasized that ensuring a stable supply of potable water remains at the “top of the priorities” for the government.
