ALGIERS – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has affirmed that almost all of his commitments have been translated into action, emphasizing his success in reinforcing the state’s sovereignty to defend citizens’ interests within the framework of building the new Algeria.
During his periodic interview broadcasted on Saturday evening across national television channels and radio stations, President Tebboune assured that around 75% of his 54 promises made to the Algerian people before his election have been realized on the ground, with the remaining commitments awaiting execution.
In response to journalists’ questions, the President highlighted the significant progress made by the new Algeria across various sectors, despite baseless criticisms and attempts to relive “a bygone era.” He underlined that the state has become strong to “defend citizens, not oppress them.”
Reiterating his commitment to defend the middle class, which he called the “stabilizing base” of the country, President Tebboune underscored that the state works to meet citizens’ social demands using its own means.
Furthermore, he called on Algerians to defend national unity, cautioning against the “birds of ill omen” who harbor hatred towards Algeria and predicted an explosion of the situation. He stated that the remnants of the “band” are attempting to sow anarchy in society using colossal funds in hopes of buying consciences.
He also warned against the remnants of the “band” that speculate on food prices, thereby affecting citizens’ purchasing power.
Addressing recent attempts to destabilize the country, the President confirmed that the criminal nature of the fires that several provinces experienced in late July has been established. He reviewed the measures taken to respond to such catastrophes, which reduced the number of victims and extinguishing times compared to the tragic events Algeria faced in the past.
He mentioned that Algeria has acquired six (6) aircraft, with only one received to date, and chartered six (6) other planes. He stressed the importance of reinforcing the railway transport system as the “best guarantor of development” in the country, particularly for the southern regions. He announced a program with Chinese partners to construct railway lines covering approximately 6,000 km.
Regarding the regulation of the Algerian economy, the President announced the imminent creation of the High Commission for Digitization, placed under the Presidency. He emphasized that complete digitization of the economy would provide all necessary data for decision-making and offer a clearer perspective on the country’s economic capabilities.
He touched on Algeria’s international stance, expressing support for constitutional legitimacy in Niger and rejecting military intervention as a solution. He affirmed Algeria’s readiness to assist Niger in restoring constitutional legitimacy.
In conclusion, President Tebboune mentioned his recent official visits to various friendly countries, highlighting China as a reliable partner. He noted China’s trust in Algeria’s new direction. He also discussed the planned state visit to France, asserting that it had not been canceled and emphasizing the need for substantial results from the visit. Lastly, he downplayed the recognition of a supposed Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara by Israel, considering it a “non-event” with no repercussions of interest to Algeria.
