ALGIERS – The President of the National People’s Assembly (APN), Mr. Brahim Boughali, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Algeria, Jorge Wurst, on Thursday, as stated in an APN press release.
On this occasion, Mr. Boughali “expressed satisfaction with the relations between Algeria and Peru, built on understanding and solidarity,” calling for “the necessity to revitalize them, particularly in the economic and commercial spheres.”
“He emphasized that 2023 will be the year to rekindle relations with the parliaments of Latin America, especially those sharing common values with Algeria in defending just causes,” adding that the Algerian Parliament “aspires to strengthen its ties with its Peruvian counterpart.”
Furthermore, the President of the APN affirmed that the two parliamentary friendship groups can “provide essential momentum to the consultation process between the two countries, which are called to enhance coordination in major forums, such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).”
According to Mr. Boughali, Algeria “will remain faithful to its principles based on peaceful approaches to conflict resolution and the rejection of violence and foreign interference in the internal affairs of states, as well as its commitment to defending just causes, particularly the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes.”
The Ambassador of the Republic of Peru expressed his belief that “popular strength is one of the main factors for successful cooperation between states,” expressing his satisfaction in meeting with Mr. Brahim Boughali, who represents the people as the President of an institution.
The Peruvian diplomat emphasized “the need to strengthen the role of parliamentary diplomacy in enhancing bilateral relations and building fruitful cooperation at various levels,” concluded the statement.
