The Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid, has traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa, to participate as the representative of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in the “BRICS Outreach Plus” forum within the framework of the 15th BRICS Summit, as stated in a ministry statement on Monday.
The minister arrived in Johannesburg on Sunday to attend the “BRICS Outreach Plus” forum, with proceedings scheduled for next Thursday, the statement added.
This event is part of the 15th BRICS Summit taking place from Tuesday, August 22nd, to Thursday, August 24th, under the theme “Partnerships for Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism.”
In addition to the leaders of the five BRICS countries, the forum will bring together heads of state and government from 67 African, Latin American, Asian, and Caribbean countries, as well as officials from international and regional organizations.
“The participation of Algeria in this forum reflects the country’s keen interest in contributing to the discussions on issues related to recovery from multidimensional crises, the strengthening of fair multilateralism, and global governance reform,” emphasized the ministry.
This event will provide an opportunity for participants to engage in high-level discussions on current topics, including ways to enhance cooperation among developing countries to ensure inclusive global economic recovery and sustainable development.
“These topics, to be debated in the presence of eminent personalities and heads of state, underscore the importance of collective action for a more responsive and equitable global economic system, capable of tackling inequalities, accelerating the climate transition, and increasing the chances of achieving sustainable development goals,” the ministry noted.
During this event, Mr. Faid will also hold meetings with officials from certain BRICS and non-BRICS member countries to discuss the status and prospects of cooperation with Algeria, the statement concluded.
