ALGIERS – Starting today, a heatwave is set to impact multiple provinces in the western and central regions of the country, bringing scorching temperatures ranging between 39 and 45 degrees Celsius. This information comes from a special Meteorological Bulletin (BMS) issued on Monday by the National Meteorological Office (ONM).
Issued as an “Orange” alert, this heatwave will initially affect the southern part of the provinces of Ain Temouchent, Oran, and Mostaganem, with maximum temperatures ranging between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius. Additionally, minimum temperatures are expected to be between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius from today through Thursday, according to the same source.
The heatwave will also impact the provinces of Sidi Bel Abbes, Mascara, Relizane, Chlef, Ain Defla, and the southern part of Tlemcen. Here, maximum temperatures are forecasted to range between 43 and 45 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures hovering between 26 and 30 degrees Celsius.
