When planning a trip, choosing the right time can be crucial in determining your travel budget and selecting the right airline. However, other factors also come into play, such as the airline’s baggage policy.
In this regard, the carrier Volotea, voted the best low-cost airline in 2022, has updated its cabin baggage policy.
Volotea’s updated baggage policy includes three fare options: Standard, which includes only a personal item under the seat; Mega VOLOTEA and MEGA VOLOTEA Plus, which allow passengers to bring a personal item and a cabin bag weighing 10 kg.
For passengers without priority boarding, they are entitled to carry only a personal item in the cabin. However, passengers with priority boarding can bring a personal item and a cabin bag with a combined weight of 10 kg. If the total weight exceeds the limit, a fee of 60 euros per piece will apply.
As for checked baggage, Volotea allows each passenger to carry up to five pieces of luggage with a total weight of 50 kg. Any excess weight beyond the indicated limit per bag will incur an additional fee of 12 euros, up to a maximum of 32 kg.
Passengers can add baggage to their reservation up to 2.5 hours before the flight’s departure. This can be done during the ticket purchase process, at check-in, or by managing the reservation on the airline’s website.
Volotea also permits up to 32 kg of special baggage, such as sports equipment (surfboards, bicycles, golf clubs, etc.) and musical instruments (piano, guitar, etc.). For any excess weight, passengers will be charged 12 euros per additional kilogram.
In its baggage policy, the low-cost airline has also provided a list of prohibited items, including those that may pose a danger to other passengers or the aircraft, such as sharp objects, lithium batteries, and liquids.
