The Center for Industrial Technology Research (CRTI) has announced the launch of a national competition to design the best electric car in Algeria. This initiative comes after the completion of the electric car prototype by the research center’s team. According to Riad Badji, director of CRTI, the competition aims to select the most suitable design for the complete realization of the electric car, entirely crafted by Algerian hands.
The emphasis will be on using a high-performance motor and a professionally tailored control system specifically adapted to the electric car. The competition is open to professionals, engineers, designers, and students with skills in computer-aided mechanical design (CAD).
The challenge is to design the exterior and interior of a “compact” 5-door electric car (Hatchback). The technical specifications for the exterior design include a total length of 4375 mm, a total width (excluding mirrors) of 1795 mm, and a required height between 1440 and 1520 mm. The wheelbase should be 2640 mm, and the wheel diameter should be 16 or 17 inches. As for the interior design of the car, the center allows complete freedom to the designer. The deadline for submitting proposals is set for December 20, 2023.
What are the conditions to participate in the competition?
To participate, designers must submit their proposal in digital format using SOLIDWORKS software, detailing the vehicle’s characteristics such as its shape, dimensions, technical specifications, interior design, rear box, etc.
Candidates can send their creations via email to the following address: contact@crti.dz or submit them on a CD at CRTI, Direction of Quality, Radioprotection, and Technological Development, 4th floor, office No. 408, Dely Ibrahim Road, Cheraga.
The selected designers will have the opportunity to present their work individually, showcasing both the interior and exterior design, in front of an expert committee from CRTI.
Finally, the results will be revealed during an honorary ceremony, where the top three designs will be awarded prizes for their creativity and contribution to the innovation of an electric car design.
