ALGIERS – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received on Monday in Algiers the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Mohamed Hamel, who is on a working visit to Algeria, according to a statement from the ministry.
The discussions during this meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, focused on “the ongoing preparations for the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the GECF scheduled to be held in Algiers in March of next year,” the statement added.
In this context, both parties emphasized “the imperative to intensify coordination and cooperation between Algeria, as the host country, and the General Secretariat of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, in order to create all the conditions for the success of this important international event.”
The meeting underscored the need to “continue efforts to achieve qualitative outcomes that reflect the growing importance of the energy issue on the international stage, and to meet the aspirations of member countries to develop their capacities and make a real and effective contribution in addressing the challenges posed by the international energy security situation,” the statement concluded.
