ALGIERS – The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received a delegation from the Malaysian group “Lion” on Sunday in Algiers. The delegation was led by the CEO of the Group, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Utama William Cheng. During the meeting, they reviewed investment opportunities, particularly in the field of mining resources exploitation, according to a statement from the ministry.
Held at the ministry’s headquarters and attended by its officials, the meeting focused on “cooperation and investment opportunities between companies in the Energy and Mines sector and the Malaysian group ‘Lion,’ especially in the area of mining resources exploitation such as aluminum and iron ores for industrial use,” the statement elaborated.
In this context, the Malaysian Group expressed “its willingness to explore investment opportunities and industrial project implementations in the aluminum and steel industry sectors in Algeria,” the statement added.
Additionally, both parties reviewed opportunities for cooperation and partnership in various areas of mutual interest, particularly within the framework of “the Malaysian Group’s strategy aimed at implementing significant industrial projects in Algeria,” the Ministry of Energy and Mines statement concluded.
