ALGIERS – In a recent statement, General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the Algerian National People’s Army (ANP), reiterated the army’s readiness to address any threat that could compromise the security and integrity of the nation, as stated in a press release from the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
“I want to emphasize that we will always be ready to respond to any threat that could endanger the security and integrity of our country, regardless of its nature and scale. This is our responsibility to safeguard the legacy of our valiant martyrs and ensure the future of generations to come,” he stated in an orientation speech during a work and inspection visit to the weapons and electronic systems renovation and maintenance facility in the 1st Military Region.
He added, “Only in this way will we live up to our nation’s aspirations for stability, security, and progress, as well as the achievements of our predecessors who made the ultimate sacrifice for the sovereignty, pride, and greatness of our country.”
The Chief of Staff underlined that the strengthening of national defense capabilities, along with the modernization and development of armed forces components, forms “the core foundations of ANP’s strategy to address potential challenges and threats.”
“Strengthening our national defense capabilities, as well as modernizing and developing our armed forces components, are the main foundations upon which we build, within the Algerian National People’s Army, the worthy heir of the National Liberation Army. This is under the guidance of Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense. Our visionary strategy takes into account the global and regional security complexities and contexts, particularly the chronic and multifaceted threats that have significantly increased in recent years, such as terrorism, transborder organized crime, smuggling, and narcotics trafficking,” he explained.
In this context, he estimated that “our valiant army has adeptly managed to confront these threats, thanks to the relevance of the adopted national security approach, based on a deep understanding of the challenges, readiness, and continuous vigilance. The Algerian people’s support for their security forces and loyal children, who are fully aware of the new stakes and the extensive efforts needed to counter these challenges, has also played a role.”
During the visit, aimed at monitoring the performance of support establishments, particularly those specialized in the renovation and maintenance of various systems, General of the Army, accompanied by Major General Ali Sidane, Commander of the 1st Military Region, and Major General Smail Seddiki, Central Director of Equipment, received a comprehensive presentation on the important unit from its commander.
Subsequently, the General of the Army inspected various workshops at the facility, where detailed explanations were provided on the steps involved in renovating and maintaining weapons and electronic systems.
He “expressed gratitude to the officials, executives, and employees of the establishment for their efforts and achievements. He encouraged them to tirelessly work towards enhancing the technical support chain to the desired level, transforming this establishment into a new link in the production chain, realizing its set objectives, and symbolically planted a tree on this occasion,” the MDN statement concluded.
